Sarah's Silks Playsilks

$24.90

Sarah's Silks Playsilks from Oskar's Wooden Ark are perfect for creative and open-ended play. They are light, yet strong and the edges of each playsilk are hand-hemmed. All playsilks are color-fast and hand washable. They can be even ironed on a medium setting.

A basket of colored playsilks is one of the best additions to a child’s playroom. It is amazing to see what children create with them: Some children make costumes like capes, skirts, pants, hats, veils, animal tails and more. The next day the same silks become green grass for their toy animals to live on, blue water to sail the boats, or a rainbow can appear in the sky above them. Many children wrap their dolls in them or tie them on as a sling to carry a favorite animal or doll around in. They can be used to build forts with the sofa cushions, for a puppet show curtain, and for magic tricks. The possibilities are as unlimited as your child's imagination.

Dimensions: 90cm x 90cm

Recommended Age: 3+ years

Sarah's Silks Playsilks are dyed with non-toxic, eco friendly dyes and have been safety tested for children aged 3 and older.

Sarah's Silks is based in California, US. As a family-owned company Sarah's Silks has been importing sustainably-produced, hand-woven silks from China for many years. Sarah sources her materials from a village near Suzhou. The workers - mostly women - generally work from home, weaving, dyeing, sewing, ironing the silk products.

The dyes are non toxic, non-hazardous, environmentally-friendly and do not contain any heavy metals. Sarah's Silks offers quality silk and cotton playcloths in radiant colors that inspire open-ended play encouraging children to express themselves and the wonders of their imaginations. Children who develop inner creativity at an early age grow up to become inventive, resourceful adults with a greater depth of creative thinking.

Red silk

I'm so excited for my little boy's 3rd birthday in two weeks for him to see his present wrapped in a red silk. When asked what he would like for his birthday he only wanted a red silk. He absolutely loves his blue and green silks and red is his favourite colour. It really is beautiful. Well worth it for anyone wondering - my toddler has loved his silks since he was a baby and still loves hiding under them. He's most likely autistic, just going down the diagnosis path, and the silks are lovely and sensory and calming for him.

Good for little bubba’s

Our 9 month old loves playing boo with it. It’s so light and easy for her to manoeuvre compared to a muslin wrap

Love

My 3yo loves to play with these silks , we add to our collection slowly. This green one serves as a superhero cape , grass, wrapping, covering things and people, hiding, and to create a path to something. The possibilities are truly endless.

Sarah’s silks

The playsilks are such a beautiful addition to all play setups! A river, a tablecloth, a cubby cover, a cape, a skirt... they are whatever the child comes up with. They fold, they scrunch, they cover, they move with a beautiful flow as children dance and their silk feel is perfect for children’s sensory needs. Believe me, you need all the colours and your children will use them in ways you haven’t thought of!

Such an open ended toy

I bought this as a gift for my niece after having a basket of them in our own house. They are one of the most widely interpreted toys we own from cubbies to small world play to dress ups and creating cosy nooks for reading they really are used for everything

From wrapping presents to grandmas house

These beautiful silks are gorgeous for wrapping presents and my daughter and nieces were very excited to open them up on Christmas morning. Already they have been used to make tents and caves and fairy/butterfly wings. However most of all the favourite game at the moment is “Little Red Ridding Hood”
