What are KADEN Marble Runs made from?

Kaden Marble Runs are made from natural beech wood that is steam-treated to increase stability and durability. The tracks and components are left in their natural state while the balls are colour-glazed. Natural wood is chosen for its sensory characteristics as well as its ecological impact.

KADEN Marble Runs from Oskar's Wooden Ark in Australia - size comparisons

What is the difference between the "S", "M" and "XL" KADEN sets?

All sets have similar components and play elements. The primary difference lies in the sizes of the balls and the diameters of the tracks, which determine the age-appropriateness of the sets.

The included balls are 26 mm (S),  46 mm (M) and 63mm (XL) in diameter.

S-size sets are not suitable for children under the age of three as the balls present a choking hazard, while M and XL sets are suitable for all ages.

What age group are KADEN Marble Runs best suited to?

KADEN Marble Runs offer many exciting play possibilities that will thrill children and adults alike. They are designed to challenge individuals according to their abilities, meaning that they will ‘grow’ with your children.

Very young children will delight in simply watching a ball move along a track, before having a go at gently placing balls onto the track themselves. Through these early interactions, they will be learning the concept of cause and effect.

The next stage is construction. Younger children may wish to begin by creating a flat track or labyrinth to push a ball along, before advancing to longer, more complex three-dimensional marble runs.

Please note that S-size sets are not suitable for children under the age of three as the balls present a choking hazard. Learn more about the different sized sets above.

How to build taller ball runs - KADEN Marble Runs from Oskar's Wooden Ark in Australia

I want to create taller marble runs with more levels. What can I use?

We offer Cross Shaped Supports that are compatible with size S KADEN Marble Runs and come in three different height options. By up-ending the KADEN square trays (included with KADEN S sets) and placing them on top of the supports, platforms are created that allow for taller builds and more stability.

The KADEN components themselves can be used like building blocks to build upwards, gaining extra height. Many of our customers also enjoy using KADEN in combination with building blocks and components from other brands such as Gluckskafer, Grimm’s Wooden Toys and SumBlox. See two examples from @playroomstories and @woodentoyplay below.

Why are there holes in the box sides of the larger KADEN sets?

A clever design feature of the larger boxes provides another way to add levels to your marble run. Disassemble the box and each side panel becomes a platform that can be used to help create extended multi-level ball run creations. Line up your components with the drilled holes and you’re ready to go!
