We, more realistically I absolutely love our Grimms blocks. The quality is unrivalled but they're just so beautiful and easy to build with. My 13-month-old does enjoy banging the blocks around, and knocking down my towers. The grippy surface makes them excellent for his unsteady little fingers. He claps them one on top if another, and somehow they stay put! But honestly, I bought them because I wanted to play with them, and they were worth it. This tower is made with just the blocks from this set. I know that my son will keep growing into these for years, and I will enjoy having them around. I put off investing in blocks for a while because we already had "blocks" from another commercial store that were never touched and I was struggling to justify buying more.
