You will need:
· Walnuts
· Kids at Work Nutcracker
· Small seeds or nuts (hazelnuts or palm seeds work best)
· Stockmar Modelling Beeswax
· Felt Sheets
· String
· Hot Glue Gun
· Permanent Marker
Step 1:
Take the kids on a nature hunt and find small nuts and seeds. Palm seeds and Hazelnuts work best to create the little faces of the mice.
Step 2:
Crack the Walnuts using the Kids at work Nutcracker or a short pointed knife. If the walnuts are very fresh. you can dry them in the oven on a very low heat for around 20min to make cracking easier.
Step 3:
Draw little sleepy faces onto your nuts/seeds using a permanent marker.
Step 4:
Cut two small circles out of the felt sheets and glue them onto the walnut half using the hot glue gun.
Cut two pieces of string - one for the tail and the other one for hanging. Use the hot glue gun to attached them.
Step 5:
To finish your Christmas Mouse Tree Ornament, simply glue the seed/ nut, with the face on it, between the felt ears and fill the bottom half of the walnut with Stockmar Modelling Beeswax, to create a blanket for the sleepy mouse.
Step 6:
Repeat the steps above to create a variety of different mice.
Enjoy the cute decorations you crafted by hanging them onto your Christmas Tree or gifting them to your loved ones.
