Inside the Grimm's Factory: An Exclusive Tour of Where the Magic Is Made

We've always adored Grimm's Wooden Toys, from their superb craftsmanship to their open-ended play possibilities, they capture everything we love about wooden toys. Over the years, Simon has enjoyed a number of visits to the Grimm's factory in Germany, getting an up-close look at the hard work behind every beautiful piece. Grimm's Wooden Toys is a family-owned toy maker based in the Swabian Alps, Germany.

From Raw Wood to Finished Toy

Every Grimm's toy is shaped and finished by hand.

  • Pieces are hand-carved from sourced timber
  • Painted with non-toxic, water-based stains
  • Oiled using a natural oil blend: linseed, olive, thistle, walnut and soybean oils
  • No shortcuts, just careful, traditional craftsmanship
