Festive Fun: Sticky Grapat Christmas Tree
Kate Kwijas | November 20, 2021
This fun and simple activity presents endless opportunities for learning. And, hopefully, it might just act as a decoy for the real Christmas tree, keeping little hands busy decorating a more appropriate area of the house.
Please take a photo of your little learners when decorating their sticky Christmas tree and share it with us on Instagram and Facebook, tagging @oskarswoodenark and using the hashtag: #OWACHRISTMAS.
Preparation:
Cut out strips of cardboard. Lay contact on a flat surface, sticky side up. Arrange the cardboard strips in a Christmas tree shape. Trim around the edges of the contact.
One of our focuses was on number facts. So, at this stage we also created some equation cards.
Step 1:
Attach your Christmas tree to the wall (we used blu-tac) and present Grapat Loose parts like the Grapat Rings and Coins.

Step 2:
Watch your little learners decorate the Christmas tree again and again. Here you could also present the equation cards, encourage your children to practice colour names in a second language, count, help a sibling to learn their colours. The options are endless!
Learning Outcomes:
· Fine motor skills
· Colour recognition
· Counting
· Opportunity to practice another language
· Addition and subtraction
· Fun!
