Festive Fun: DIY Christmas Tree Shape - Puzzle
Jess (@learnandbloom) | November 24, 2021
Let's have fun this season by keeping the kids entertained with fun festive play ideas. This week, Jess is showing us how to create a Christmas tree puzzle using 2 recycled pieces of cardboard and her favourite block building sets. Children will learn to sort and match blocks based on shape, colour and size, while decorating the cardboard tree. For younger children, stick to a few basic colours and shapes.
Why don't you put some Christmas tunes on in the background to make this festive play and learn activity even more enjoyable.
If you create a Christmas Tree Puzzle with your little learners, please take a photo and share it with us on Instagram and Facebook, tagging @oskarswoodenark and using the hashtag: #OWACHRISTMAS.
You will need:
· 2 pieces of cardboard (same size)
· Stanley knife
· Coloured markers or Crayons
· Blocks (e.g. Grimm's Four Temperaments)
Step 1:
Draw a Christmas tree outline on a piece of cardboard.
Step 2:
Use a pencil to trace over each block. We’ve used our Grimm's Four Temperaments Set. Go over it in coloured markers to match the colour of each block.

Step 3:
Use a Stanley knife to cut out each shape.
Step 4:
Stick the piece of cardboard with the cut out shapes over the second piece of cardboard.

Step 5:
Colour the shapes to match each block.
Step 6:
Your Puzzle is ready to go! You can also create a smaller one with more basic shapes for younger children.
