Casiana and Jordi, the founders of Grapat Wooden Toys are from a small town in the Pyrenean mountains of Catalunya who were inspired by how their daughter played when given the freedom to play with her natural every day surroundings. They believe that when the toy is somewhat seemingly simplistic and given without instructions, it encourages children to develop a more adventurous and complex activity with it.

Grapat toys are all handmade with love from almost all locally sourced materials and subject to nature making every piece unique. Every part of each toy has been considered from the dimensions of the toy, to the shape or form, the thickness of the wood and the colour.

Love love love our mandala pieces!

We recently bought the full 9 sets of mandala pieces and they have been such a hit with our big kids already! Our younger ones use them for counting and incorporating into their small world play, and the older children love making intricate mandalas using as many pieces as they can! Definitely can’t recommend them enough!

Exceeded expectations

I had been keen to try some wooden open ended toys after researching play. I was unsure if the investment was worth it, so decided to start small.
I have been amazed at the play that has followed and been completely child led. The pieces have been sorted by colour, used as many different foods, used to create pictures, to make shapes and letters and as pieces in small worlds. The photo is of a ‘box of chocolates’ I was given.
My children are 5 and 18m and I would highly recommend adding these to your collection

So pretty

Bought this to add to our set. Explained to my 3yo they are flowers, now he adds flowers amongst any small play set up we have for the day.
Also great to expand our cooking ingredients in imaginative play. They can be pepperoni on pizza or magical petals in stew.

Our two year old loves these pink mushrooms, she actually learned to describe colours as light, medium and dark using these!
